The Best Ever ‘TLT’ (Tofu version of a BLT!)

Time: 30 minutes 

This is the best sandwich ever, and you need it in your life! Not even joking when I say we eat this every single weekend for brunch, and dream about it during the week… it’s that good! You can put whatever you want in the sandwich with the tofu, but I’ve listed below exactly what we put in as I think it’s the perfect combination. Hope you enjoy! 

Tofu Ingredients: 

  • 280g block of firm tofu  

  • 2 tablespoons of tamari 

  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup 

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil 

  • 1 teaspoon of onion granules 

  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika 

  • 1 teaspoon of garlic granules  

Sandwich Ingredients: 

  • Good quality ciabatta loaf or your favourite bread 

  • Hummus 

  • Lettuce 

  • Tomato 

  • Red Onion 

  • Big handful of basil chopped up 

  • Sriracha 

  • Half an avocado, thinly sliced 

Cooking Steps: 

 

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200C. 

  2. Chop your tofu into slices, approximately 8 slices and place on a lined baking tray. 

  3. Mix the ingredients for your sauce together in a bowl, and spread evenly over the tofu slices on the baking tray using a spoon, ensuring a good coating on each slice. 

  4. Place in the oven for around 25 minutes, depending on how thick your slices are. 

  5. Assemble the rest of your sandwich (hummus, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, basil, sriracha) and place your tofu slices in the sandwich. Enjoy!
